Airport Wildlife Management Officer

Saskatoon, SK | Seasonal Full-time

$25+ /hour

The Raptors is hiring for an Airport Wildlife Management Officer based out of Saskatoon, SK. This position would be based at the Saskatoon International Airport (YXE). In this position, you would be utilizing modern wildlife management techniques, including falconry, to mitigate environmental and safety hazards on the airfield. An ideal candidate would have:

  • A Valid Transport Canada issued RAIC (Required)
  • A D-AVOP, or equivalent. (Required)
  • Radio Operator's License Aeronautical (ROC-A) (Required)
  • Class 5 Drivers License with a clean driving record (Required)
  • Valid Firearms Purchase and Acquisition License
  • 3-years experience providing wildlife management on an airfield.
  • Experience working with, and flying, raptors for wildlife management.
  • Some post-secondary education in a related field (biology, ecology, zoology etc.)
  • Comfort working outdoors for long periods of time, in all weather conditions.
  • Adaptability to a variety of work and tasks
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently for long periods of time
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Organizational skills
  • Passion for and experience with animals, especially birds
  • Passion for conservation and the environment

An exceptional candidate would also possess:

  • Firearms experience
  • Experience trapping / banding birds
  • First aid skills

This is a full-time seasonal (5-6 month) position with a non-standard shift schedule. Wages are approximately $25+/hr (depending on experience). Due to the location of the work, applicants must have access to a vehicle or other means of reliable transportation. Public transportation does not reliably service the majority of our worksites.
